excerpt:

He thought morning would never come. Then, when it did, he wished it hadn't. In the first light of dawn, he sat up and looked around his room. He'd never spend another night here. Or do chores or go to school or . . . The life he had known was over, no matter where they sent him. The kind of creature he was now couldn't live a normal life.

Sharon Stewart has produced a new anthology of stories, usually around 20 pages in length, that will appeal to readers who enjoy a dark chill. The villains in the stories range from mythological terrors (Anubis, the Egyptian God who led the souls of the dead to the underworld) to virulent computer viruses and voices from the grave.

The stories are fast-paced and will attract not only readers of horror but also non-readers who will be captured by the unusual, dark, and darkly humourous storylines. This is a perfect follow up to last year's anthology, Be Afraid: Tales of Horror.

Recommended.
