inside picture Klutz is a well-known publisher of zany, but "practical," books that appeal to kids. None of the above items is a book, but all will appeal to most kids (and grown-up kids, too). Each item is a laminated folder (about road map size) that has six pages per side, thereby yielding 11 "usable" pages after the title page is discounted. Backyard Stars consists principally of four seasonal star charts, but it also includes some other incidental astronomical information, plus instructions on how to render your flashlight more night vision friendly. The Best Paper Airplanes You'll Ever Fly provides the plans for constructing three paper planes along with directions for launching them and then trimming them for better flight. Adults who have to spend any lengthy period of time with boisterous youngsters in their cars will want to have the Glove Compartment Scavenger Hunt readily available. As the title suggests, kids get to "scavenge" things they see as the car travels along. They can also play license plate bingo, billboard crosswords and a version of tic-tac-toe. Despite their price, which is somewhat high given the folders' short length, parents and leaders of youth groups, such as Cubs and Brownies/Guides, might want to add one or more of these "Klutz Guides" to their idea files.
