image Cyndy Szekeres is a well-known author and illustrator of books for young children. Her characters are anthropomorphized animals who enliven classics of children's poetry and stories.

Yes, Virginia - There is a Santa Claus is a reprint of the famous letter to the New York Sun editor written by an eight-year-old in the 1880's, plus the editor's reply. The happy kitten family demonstrates how the spirit of Santa lives within us all, as the editor replies that "the most real things in the world are those that neither children nor grown-ups can see." The illustrations are pleasant and bright, with the little kitten wearing bows in her hair, mama and grandma wrapped in sleep caps and warm pyjamas as they put gifts under the tree, and everyone warmly attired to sing caroles in the snow. The small size fits well into little hands. This book would make a fine personal gift or be a good seasonal addition to a school collection.

Highly recommended.
