excerpt:

Wiggle your toes and touch your nose.
Now can you guess the yoga pose?
First we listen to the clue,
then we see what we can do!

I wrap the world in seven seas.
Pirates sail on my breeze.
My tides are low. My tides are high.
Each wave is like a breath and sigh.
              What am I?

Delightful. This one word best describes The Yoga Game By the Sea written for young children by Kathy Beliveau and illustrated by Denise Holmes. It is delightful in the lively poetry that gives the clue for children to guess which pose they are to try. Guessing games are always loved by youngsters, and trying to form the shapes of nature’s wonders is lots of fun. This book gives children and their adults, be it parents and other family members or teachers and other adults or teens in their lives, a chance to have fun together while learning valuable lessons in yoga. Children find it play and enjoy forming the different poses, as I found with my youngest granddaughter who took yoga during physical education in her school. She loved it.

The illustrations are simple, yet very expressive, and give valuable detail for those not so familiar with each pose. In the author’s note, Beliveau gives safety hints that will help the user make the environment a safer place to practice the art of yoga. Anyone can use this book to communicate with children. Older students will be able to read the poetry themselves. Enjoy this book with your children for valuable time together.

Highly Recommended.
