Part of the "Canada Concept Books" series, this offering highlights words commonly associated with our country, 30 words to be precise. Many of them cover sports, foods, wildlife, clothing, lodging, transportation, as well as identifiable symbols and trademarks that reflect our unique land.

internal art      Gürth also manages to reflect different seasons and includes various parts of our nation. Totem Pole, maple sugar, toque, snow shoes, polar bear and Stanley Cup are some examples of the words that mirror what Canadians might mention when choosing words to describe their remarkable country.

Since Canada in Words targets early readers, there is only one word per page, written in lower case letters and beautifully reflected in the illustration. Children will easily repeat each word when prompted as they peruse the colourful drawing accompanying it.

The imagery created by Per-Henrik Gürth is memorable and iconic. A graphic designer, Gürth's trademark drawings are, as always, dynamic, outlined in black and incredibly vibrant. The bold artwork, rendered in Adobe illustrator, is simply striking, using primary colours with the effect of being kid-friendly.

The front and back flyleaf feature a simplified map of Canada, noting all the provinces and territories.

Highly Recommended.
