In Beliefs & Religions Around the World, Judy Kirton gives young readers a gentle, interesting introduction to some of the different religions practised around the world. Children are introduced to such religions as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and the First Peoples beliefs.

internal artThis little book offers parents, grandparents, teachers and other caregivers who read to young children a simple way of introducing them to what different people believe. It is an important part of what we teach them and is one way to nurture respect and acceptance.

Beliefs & Religions Around the World is an easy to read, informational book for a younger audience. It simply describes various religions and their beliefs, customs, and celebrations. Lawton’s illustrations depict different aspects of each religion and will help to engage the younger reader. The text is written to support even the earliest readers, and the phonetic spelling in parenthesis helps to facilitate proper pronunciation. The author has devoted approximately four pages to each faith, and these pages provide basic information about the beliefs and celebrations of each faith.

The coloured illustrations by Val Lawton are colourfully detailed and will quickly capture the attention of even the youngest readers.

Beliefs & Religions Around the World is a great resource for introducing young students to the basic elements of various religions. It is a fine addition to any home or school library.

Highly Recommended.
