excerpt:

The air in the club is hot.
There's a smell of aftershave, perfume, and dry ice in the air.
The music is so loud the floor is shaking.
The lights are shaking...
... and I've just put on a song that has made a thousand people cheer, put their hands in the air, and dance.

Djing, a high interest/low vocabulary book, is broken in very short chapters and begins with a short introduction to the DJ before going on to explain What is a DJ? and then the equipment needed before ending with Need-to-know Words and a list of web sites to find more information. Each chapter is short and includes real life pictures that represent a variety of people from different backgrounds.

Steventon has managed in this book to capture the essence of Djing. He keeps his text simple and does not overwhelm his reading audience with a lot of unnecessary information. His goal is to provide an overview of Djing, and he succeeds. He is well in tune with his audience. In fact, this book could serve as an introduction to readers of any age wanting to learn more about this occupation.

     A good read.

Highly Recommended.
