These two new titles in the "Wheels at Work" series explain city vehicles and country vehicles and are sure to be a big hit with younger students who like things that go. Each page has a full colour painting illustrating each vehicle as it does its job.

     In the City shows a garbage truck, delivery truck, bus, fire truck, moving van, courier truck, bucket truck, armored vehicle, chip wagon, power rodder (used to lay high speed communication cables), ambulance and street sweeper.

Flashing lights and a wailing siren warn of an emergency vehicle approaching fast! All traffic stops as the fire truck rushes past. The truck has a powerful pump that can shoot water out of six hoses at the same time. The ladder and bucket can lift two firefighters up to the tenth story of a burning building.

     In the Country shows a farm tractor, truck, cultivator, field sprayer, feed truck, school bus, livestock trailer, baler, combine, grain buggy, drilling rig, horse trailer and plow. This book follows the cycle of farm chores from spring planting to combining in the fall.

Farm animals are on the move in the huge livestock trailer that transports them to and from the farm. Inside, there are pens on two levels that can hold up to forty cows or one hundred pigs at a time. Holes in the sides of the trailer give the animals plenty of fresh air.

     In both books, the name of the vehicle is in bold type. There is no index, glossary or table of contents, but the books are suitable for their intended audience. The beautiful illustrations are very detailed and complement the text.
