Volume 22 Number 6 1994 November/December Spirituality and art unite in the works of C.J. Taylor, as this video so aptly reveals. The daughter of a Mohawk father and a mother of German-British origin, Taylor became interested in Native legends while discovering her roots. This interest has resulted in her retelling and illustrating a number of traditional First Nation tales. The producers have continued the high standards of the Meet the Author/Illustrator series. Taylor is seen making presentations to classes and relaxing at home. She gives insight into her legends and explains the source of her wolf drawings. She also talks of her growth as a painter. The camera focuses on a variety of her illustrations, and a male voice-over reads from some of her books. This video succeeds in communicating the dimensions of Taylor's skill and personality. The topic holds the viewer's attention, while the vocabulary is easy to understand. Material is presented in a logical order, and the visuals and sound are clear. Music adds a further, almost mystical, dimension. The teacher's guide is short but informative; however, it has a dreadful photograph of the author.
