Bishop tells the hitherto unknown story of 100 Canadian fighter pilots who flew during the Battle of Britain. Flying under the colours of No. 1 (Fighter) Squadron RCAF, these young men went on to score more victories per pilot than any other Allied air force. Bishop tells the story in a personal way, introducing the reader to several pilots, especially the first men to join the squadron. These men travelled to England at their own expense to apply for jobs they dreamed of. The book includes specific data on the aircraft involved and a box score of the Canadian pilots. Bishop reveals all the thrills of aerial warfare. The book's presentation as an oversized paperback with comfortable print with actual photos and line drawings is a delight to the eye. It would be an excellent addition to any senior high library as well as an excellent read for any World War II buff. An ideal addition to any public library's history section. Highly recommended.
