THE KIDS' HORSE BOOK
Funston, Sylvia
Volume 21 Number 6
The Kids' Horse Book, written by Sylvia Funston and published by OWL magazine, is bright, well written and informative. From its very attractive cover through its extensive table of contents to particular sections, such as "Wild Horses," "Where Do Horses Come From," "Bits and Pieces," "How to Draw a Horse," to games, puzzles and jokes, finishing with "Did You Know" on the back cover, this book is a delight. It is sure to keep young readers interested. Young horse enthusiasts will learn more about caring for their favourite animal, while non-horse fans will learn more about the fascinating history of these beautiful animals. Several chapters of the book end with question-and-answer sections to aid in increasing the reader's knowledge of the subject covered. The photographs are clear, bright and beautiful. The layout of the book is inviting. An excellent read and resource book. Recommended. Michele F. Kallio is a former teacher and librarian in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick |
