I bet you didn't know that you had more than the usual five senses of seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling and touching. Well, there are four more: pres­sure, muscle and joint, tilt, rotation (balance). In addition, touching is divided further into hot and cold. If you don't believe me, or Milan Tytla, the author, then I suggest that you try some of the experiments found in this book. For example, did you know that you can test your skin, muscle and joint senses by doing a series of simple and fun experiments using items easily available in your home? Or, you may wish to map your tongue in order to find out where different taste buds are by using nothing more elaborate than solutions of sail, sugar, vinegar and black coffee, a cotton swab, a pencil and a piece of paper. Tytla, who is an experimental psycholo­gist, has put together a book that is fun, informative and interesting. He uses the experiments to demonstrate and clarify his points. In addition, he provides sidebars that inform while amusing the reader. This book is a must for any would-be science fair participant. Highly recommended.
