McKay has written this useful book to calm the fears of parents about the eating habits of their young children. Readers recognize very quickly that they are not alone and that there may be ways to encourage children to move to a healthier style of eating. Her ideas include smaller portions several times a day, helping children become responsible for their own eating, and attractive presentation of food.

The first few chapters cover "So, What's a Picky Eater?", tips about feeding babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers, and kindergarten students, as well as food-related activities and table manners for young children. The two-career family receives special attention in another chapter.

A large part of the book is devoted to over one hundred recipes arranged in order of meals and snacks for a typical day. Ideas and nutritional advice for each meal time are included to assist parents. Party-time tips and recipes and food-related tips for travelling with children close out this section. An index of recipes is included.

An easy-to-read guide for parents filled with practical advice laced with humour.
