Volume 21 Number 3 1993 May This video attempts to give us a look, albeit short, at the steroid scandal in sports in general and at the Olympic level in particular. It points out that because the Canadian Dubin inquiry recommended random drug testing for our national athletes, the inquiry has had an exceedingly positive effect on reducing this particular drug abuse problem in Canada. The narrator is also quick to point out, though, that many other countries are not following suit, and that our athletes are still at a disadvantage in international competitions. The quality of the video is good; however, I found the repetitive comments about how other countries are not getting on the random testing "band wagon" extremely annoying. In fact, I felt that this attitude further diminished the accomplishments of the very athletes they were trying to applaud for winning "clean." This is a subject worthy of an informative video; unfortunately, this one doesn't quite make it. Not recommended. C.L.
