Once again the team of Kalman and Schaub combine to produce an excellent resource book. This time the emphasis is on the chain of life and interdependence of all living things on Earth. Students are encouraged to observe nature all around them and to note how each thing relates to its environment.

The authors tell us that pollution begins when people alter things found in nature. These items in their new form can not be broken down by nature's natural forces, and as they are discarded, they usually pollute our environment. Conservation receives a goodly portion of the writing and illustrations.

In thirty-two pages there are over forty photos and/or illustrations and almost all are in colour. A table of contents, glossary and index increase this book's usefulness in the resource centre. Good, heavy paper and library binding should ensure a long shelf life for this book. I was surprised to recognize some former students that had been regular visitors to one of my libraries.
