The topic of dinosaurs never ceases to amaze children of all ages. One major concern is to make certain that the young reader receives current information on this subject. The Dinosaur Question and Answer Book provides precisely this. Sylvia Funston, author of The Nature Book, incorporates the findings from the Dinosaur Project to answer one hundred of the most frequently asked questions about dinosaurs from eleven thousand questions from OWL magazine readers. Subsequently, young dinosaur enthusiasts are provided with up-to-date information.

The Dinosaur Question and Answer Book is well organized. The wide range of questions such as "What colour were dinosaurs?" and "What kind of a temperament did dinosaurs have?" are written in bold-face type. The expert answers follow the questions and are accompanied by related illustrations. The large, bright illustrations include drawings, photographs and some cartoons as well. A glossary explaining the origin and meaning of dinosaur names as well as dinosaur terms is provided. There is also an index and answers to some fun dinosaur quizzes.

Relevancy and accuracy are important criteria for a child-based book relating to scientific information. The Dinosaur Question and Answer Book is relevant in that the questions originate from children themselves on a high-interest topic. It is accurate because the answers are based on current information received from the Dinosaur Project, which involved leading Canadian and Chinese scientists. The appeal is further enhanced by the colour illustrations and easy-to-read layout. This book would be a valuable addition to any collection on the topic of dinosaurs.

The Dinosaur Question and Answer Book is highly recommended.
