It is filled with puzzles such as mazes and word searches, games such as Eye Spy, poems and jokes. Chickadees, familiar to all Chickadee readers, lead the child through the book to explore the four seasons while enjoying the variety of entertaining activities. There is an interesting mixture of puzzles, games and poems in this book, which provides the child with a good variety of ex­posure to skills such as observation, counting, classifying and problem solving. The seasonal theme, which runs throughout, exposes the young reader to some natural science. Fans of Chickadee and beginner puzzlers will have fun with the lively mix of activities. The Chickadee Book of Puzzles and Funoffers parents the opportunity to sit with a child and explore together the seasonal fun from puzzles to poetry. Although the book is reasonably priced for the quality of the paper and binding, it is unfortunate that once the puzzles have been completed, further use of and interest in this book is unlikely. The Chickadee Book of Puzzles and Fun is an activity book for children between the ages of five and seven, Kindergarten to grade 2, and is recommended for optional purchase.
