This is teacher Joan Irvine's third craft book for children. Earlier titles were How to Make Pop-Ups ¹ and Make It With Boxes (Kids Can Press, 1991) and, like these award-winning predecessors, Super Pop-Ups is sure to be a hit with children, parents and teachers.

Using easily available, inexpensive materials, children will be able to construct these super pop-ups independently. Instructions for each pop-up are broken down into simple steps, well illustrated by Linda Hendry's easily understandable line drawings. The table of contents lists fascinating projects to make: a lizard with amazing eyes, an awesome insect, a snapping sports car, a noisy robot, an enormous pop-up for the stage.

The large 8 1/2 x 9 1/2 inch pages are well bound in a bright red cover showing illustrations of some of the intriguing pop-ups .

Joan Payzant is a teacher - librarian in Dartmouth, NS.
