Grades 2-4 / Ages 7-9 Reviewed by Lorrie Ann Clark. Volume 20 Number 4 1992 September Most of the characters in this story are stiff, plastic and artificial. However, this is not a complaint about the book, as most of the characters are made of Lego pieces and have trouble with mobility. Adventure in Legoland involves a little boy named Aaron, who is summoned one night to return to Legoland, where he and his family had just spent the day visiting. His mission is to save the prince of the Lego castle, who has been kidnapped by a bad piece of lego named Bad Bart. There is apparently a real Legoland in Copenhagen, Denmark. The author uses this setting to spin her story. After I read this story to a class, we were all anxious to visit this particular spot. Carol Matas writes a good tale and, with the right combination of a real-life setting, drama, suspense and interesting characters, she is able to keep the attention of her readers. Her main character, Aaron, is very well developed. He is an active, loud, bright little boy I am sure several young readers could relate to. I recommend this story for young readers, as it will keep them anxious to find out what is going to happen in each new chapter.
