Sometimes years must pass before a classic, more particularly a Canadian classic achieves recognition. Happily this has not been the case with Who Has Seen the Wind, a re-creation of prairie boyhood that has been celebrated since its first appearance in 1947. The well-loved story of Brian O'Connal's early youth and of his growing awareness of pain, death and sorrow as well as of the richness and beauty of life that brings him to the brink of young manhood, has mellowed gracefully with the years.

The present handsome edition is doubly to be treasured in that it has been illustrated by another son of the prairies, the notable Canadian artist William Kurelek. Eight full-page plates, as well as numerous pen-and-ink drawings, are worthy of a book that belongs in every library collection.
