CIP Grades 1 to 4/Ages 6 to 9 Reviewed by Norma Charles Volume 20 Number 3 1992 May Grey Cat at Sea is an informative story about a small grey kitten who is found on Ballantyne Pier in Vancouver by a Polish sailor. She is taken on board his ship and adopted by the Polish crew, who soon leave Vancouver to spend many months fishing in the Pacific Ocean. The factory trawler is visited by Joanna, a Canadian fishing inspector, who is given the small grey cat when the crew returns to Poland. However, Grey Cat is most unhappy living on land in the city. Fortunately, Joanna's son, a fisherman, loves the cat. When Joanna delivers her to his small gillnetter in Kelsey Bay, the cat can relax at last. She has found her true home at sea. The story is illustrated with realistic full-colour water-colours accurately depicting Vancouver's sea port and many scenes on the large factory trawler.
