Volume 20 Number 2 1992 March Author Anne Stephen son gives young readers her second Junior Gemini novel, Paper Treasure. An anticipated boring summer turns into an exciting adventure for thirteen-year-old Charlie Bradford. Charlie is to help his mother pack up the belongings of his recently deceased grandfather and sell the house. On arriving in Colville, Ontario, from their Toronto home, they discover that the house has been ransacked but apparently nothing has been taken. Charlie becomes suspicious when he discovers pages had been torn from his grandfather's book Rocks and Minerals in Canada. Enlisting the help of his new friend Lisa Kirby, ho sets out to solve the mystery behind some missing old gold mine shares and a presumably useless mine. Paper Treasure is fast paced and easy reading for those who enjoy mystery and adventure. Adolescent readers will readily relate to Charlie's developing friendship with Lisa. Joey, Charlie's little brother, adds humour and a realistic sibling relationship to the plot. This is an entertaining novel for young readers. Janice Foster, Winnipeg, Man.
