CIP Pre-school to Grade 3/Ages 3 to 8 Reviewed by Pearl Herscovitch Volume 20 Number 2 1992 March Laura Lynn is a young photographer who takes "nice pictures" until she tires of them and decides to photograph only weird people and weird places. When she visits her grandparents' farm during her summer vacation, Laura discovers an old, crumbling house and decides that its weirdness merits attention. Taking pictures as she goes, she cau­tiously enters the seemingly deserted home and climbs the stairs. As her eyes adjust to the darkness, she makes out a green three-eyed monster who is shy about having his picture taken. After being reassured, the monster invites her to take a family portrait - the "weirdest family portrait of all." This is a unique story, but with a rather disappointing ending. The appearance of the monster is so abrupt, and the resolution is so superficial, that the story becomes more puzzling than entertaining.
