The Kids Can Press French and English Word Book is an illustrated bilingual word book for children and parents whose first language is English. Over 500 vocabulary words are presented. An index listing all English words found in the book permits easy access to French translations.

The word book is arranged thematically around a child's day — home, family, school, city, zoo, means of transportation, activities, etc. The same family members can be found throughout the book. Another interesting feature is the indefinite article that precedes each French word, for example, une boulangerie, un jardin. French Immersion students will find these particularly helpful.

Linda Hendry's light and colourful illustrations make learning vocabulary much easier. This is Hendry's first full-colour picture-book for Kids Can Press.

Beginning students and their parents are sure to find this word book a useful learning tool. For children whose first language is French, Scholastic has published a unilingual French-language version of this book.

Recommended.
