Volume 19 Number 6
1991 November

As in his Summer Days, Roger Pare has used short, rhymed verses to guide the reader through the brightly coloured pictures of imaginary animals at winter play. Each full-page illustration contains lots of fun and animated detail to hunt for — squirrels on skis, skating mice and basking fish. The accompanying verse on the opposite page uses easy words and large print, making it helpful to the beginning reader. This makes it an ideal book for the younger/older "reading partners" setting. Both participants will enjoy the whimsy of Fare's words and illustrations.

Recommended.
