Munsch at his creative best! His art of story writing, combined with the talented and complementary illustrations of Michael Martchenko, makes Show and Tell a must have for all children’s libraries.

Munsch's inspiration for the story was two children who lived down the street. His story begins with a child named Benjamin, who wants to take something to school for show and tell. He decides to take his baby sister. The ensuing problems make for a delightful story. The character of the school principal adds to the hilarity of the situation, as does the crazy doctor who is armed with the biggest needle ever seen.

Children will like this story, as show and tell is a daily routine that they all enjoy. In addition, the story is not so far fetched: as a former Primary teacher I was often asked by students if they could bring in their new baby brother or sister. In fact, it is truly amazing what children show and tell during this daily ritual. Teachers and students can relate to Munsch's story because he has so closely captured this childhood activity.

Martchenko's illustrations brilliantly capture the characters' reactions throughout the story. His last illustration will challenge all Munsch fans to pick out characters from previous stories.

This is an excellent book for reading and even better for reading aloud. It would also make a great gift for any Primary teacher.
