This delightful picture-book written by Bob King and illustrated by Bill Slavin is the story of a little girl's picnic gone awry. When an uninvited guest in the form of a bug comes to her picnic in the barnyard, she calls upon her animal friends to help. To her dismay each decides instead to stay and join the picnic. Written in rhythmic form, the story can either be sung or read. In fact, the author includes the music and lyrics at the back of the book. The illustrations are full page, bright and colourful. The story is imaginatively illustrated and is sure to be a hit with both readers and listening audiences. As younger children will enjoy having the story read to them, I highly recommend it for inclusion in story-time. Michele F. Kallio, Black's Harbour, N.B. |
