The latest "Bungalo Books" creation by Frank Edwards and John Bianchi is the merry tale of a child who doesn't want to go to bed. No matter what the hour, Melody Mooner can find some excuse to stay up all night long, be it building blocks, watching television, baking cookies, playing tag, or riding her tricycle. When her patient family finally gives up and retires to bed, Melody goes out to explore the night and finds that it is just a little more scary than she had thought.

The soft, humorous water-colour drawings in typical Bianchi style make this simple story happen. We share in Melody's bliss as she and her hamster play through the hours noted on the wrist-watches, and we feel some of her terror at the unfamiliar sights and sounds of the dark splashed across double-page spreads. Bianchi's little pig in pyjamas is a superb character.

This easy-to-read picture-book is sure to be a winner with young readers, their parents and teachers.
