Pierre Berton is Canada's premier historian and in this new series he brings the War of 1812 to life. His exciting retelling of the battle for Queenston Heights and the resulting death of General Isaac Brock is written with today's junior high students in mind. The language is clear, precise and completely modern. He even makes metric conversions for artillery weights and distances. The setting of the story is such that the reader feels part of the action. We are therein the thick of the battle.

The book is illustrated with line drawings that effectively draw the reader into the story. An index is included for quick reference. This lively retelling of one of the most important battles of the War of 1812 will fit easily into the Canadian studies curriculum for grades 7 to 9.

It is highly recommended.
