This unusual cookbook is divided into three major sections. The first is a ten-page guide for adults which "provides insight into children's food preferences, ways of improving their eating habits and the benefits of cooking as a life-skill." The next section is an illustrated children's story, which introduces Caboodle, a cat who likes to cook; his friend, Ozwell, the mouse; and the Forresters, a single-parent family. The third major section contains recipes interspersed with full-page colour and black-and-white illustrations of Caboodle and Ozwell. All the colour illustrations contain a hidden letter for children to find, while the black-and-white illustrations are meant to be photocopied and coloured.

The recipes are meant for adults to follow but are named with children in mind, e.g., Sahara Salad and Sniffle Soup. Some recipes are the "art you can eat" variety but many may be made without the extra trimmings. Overall, healthy eating is stressed - low fat, low sugar and high fibre.

The table of contents does not list all the recipes and there is no index. However, since the recipes roughly follow a morning to evening pattern, this might provide a starting point for finding a recipe with a forgotten name.

This cookbook would most likely be shared by an adult and a child together - a gift for the family.
