Do you know how a hummingbird wakes up?(1) Or do you know why there are "innie" and "outie" belly buttons?(2) In David Suzuki Asks Did You Know ... About Insides and Outsides? you will find the answers to these and fifty-two other questions.

David Suzuki, the well-known telescientist, has lent his name and time to this second in a series of science fact books written and illustrated by his daughter, Laura, and by Peter Cook. The book, unfortunately, with its look and feel of Ripley's Believe It Or Not, is more likely to appeal to parents hoping to pass on interesting tidbits of scientific fact than to children with a real interest in science. Given the current sorry state of science education, I would prefer that Dr. Suzuki spent more of his time imparting his love of science to children rather than on "cutesy" projects like this book. Nevertheless, it is hard to be completely negative about a book that explains why adults' armpits smell.(3)

Answers: 1). by shivering; 2). it depends on how the scar after the umbilical cord falls off heals; 3). fats in the sweat of teenagers and adults are eaten by bacteria, which give off the smell.
