Volume 19 Number 3 1991 May Written by kite lover John Boxtel, this little book will be invaluable for anyone of any age who enjoys the magic of kite flying. Boxtel is an artist and high school teacher, with the result that the text not only explains (with excellent diagrams) how to build twelve different kinds of kites, but also discusses the best materials for their construction, be they wood, paper, cloth, plastic, glue or string. There is also advice about kite tails, the right kind of wind, and basic rules of kite flying. The section on each kite begins with a general description, then lists materials needed to construct it, and continues with clear step-by-step directions. The book begins with the basic diamondshaped kite and ends with the eagle, a magnificent collapsible cloth kite with a wing-span of eighty-two and a half inches. I only wish that thirty years ago when my kite enthusiast son was ten years old Go Fly a Kite had been available. Perhaps for his fortieth birthday? That's not a bad idea! Joan M.
