This wonderful resource book was specifically adapted by Pollution Probe to our Canadian situation from the best-selling British guide. It is designed to make readers of all ages, occupations and life-styles aware of the ways in which they can make the world a safer, healthier, greener place.

The Canadian Green Consumer Guide gives the individual the knowledge and the power to start making changes that will make a better world. It is not a doom-and-gloom sort of book, quite the opposite. It gives one hope that each effort we make to save the earth will result in a cleaner, safer, greener world.

I thought that as a veteran environmentalist and recycler I would find the information a review of what I already knew. I was happily surprised to find that the book is so comprehensive and the scope so wide ranging that I actually learned a lot. There are chapters on working and investing, travel and leisure, clothing and toiletries, all containing information relevant to environmental and consumer issues.

The book is attractively illustrated with colour pictures and graphics and the layout is very well organized. An excellent foreword and introduction by the Pollution Probe Foundation set the tone and background for the ten chapters in the book. There are also sections on further reading, a list of environmental organizations, and an index. The writing is clear and jargon-free and makes The Canadian Green Consumer Guide very reader friendly. This book should be in everybody's home library as well as public and school libraries.

Highly recommended.
