Volume 18 Number 1
Rainbow Warehouse is the first book of poems from the popular novelist and short-story writer W.P. Kinsella. Not all of the poems are by Kinsella, for the book is collaboration between him and his wife, Ann Knight. The book consists of four parts plus one poem. Parts one and three alternate poems by Kinsella and Knight. Part two features Knight alone and part four is all Kinsella. The one poem at the end is Kinsella's revision of that old standard, "Casey at the Bat." I have to admit that it's the poem I enjoyed the most because it exhibited the most life. As for the rest, they all are a bit flat. Too many are just prose divided up into short lines. Don Precosty, College of New Caledonia, Prince George, B.C. |
