This wall chart is for teachers of American history who are always on the lookout for good classroom decoration. Perhaps the best so far from Hedgerow House of Toronto, this chart is especially good. It is colourful, historically accurate, as current as the Free Trade deal, bordered with figures and maps, and clear in content and type-face. It is a good size as well and the laminated version is the most practical. The text is divided into six interwoven time-lines covering the themes of expansion, politics, culture, enterprise, military and world events. And there is plenty of text. The problem with wall charts, however, is how to make best use of the information; this one could be perused at leisure when it is laid out flat. It certainly appeals to those interested in trivia and it is undoubtedly helpful in showing historical development over nearly four hundred years but the cliche "useful frill" seems to suit best.
