Volume 17 Number 4 1989 July Science reporter Jay Ingram has put together a title for OWL books that tells you everything you ever wanted to know about twins. The book is very readable and is full of bits and pieces of trivia, not only about twins but also about other things. For example, in the chapter on animal twins, the author not only looks at animal twins but also explains why some animals have lots of babies while others have only one. The book is divided into seven chapters on different aspects of twins. For example, one chapter looks at famous twins, discussing the advice column experts "Dear Ann" and "Dear Abby." Another chapter goes into detail describing how twins are created and explaining the different types of twins - identical, fraternal and mirror image. Another chapter looks at "Amazing Coincidences": for example, twins who are separated at birth yet whose lives are similar in development. They have the same types of pets with the same names, marry the same number of times, and have spouses with the same names. Each chapter is easy to read and whimsically decorated with illustrations by Harvey Chan. The book also has a useful table of contents and alphabetical index.
