Edward Mozejko has brought together seven articles on expatriate Polish poet (and Nobel laureate) Czeslaw Milosz, accounts of the poet's visits to Canada, a list of his books, and a selected bibliography of criticism. It is an excellent guide for anyone seeking an introduction to Milosz's works and career.

The articles by Canadian, American and European scholars give a well-rounded look at Milosz's achievement. There are studies of his poetry and novels and of his political and autobiographical prose. A point that is stressed a number of times is the link between the writer and the communist Polish society from which he chooses to exile himself. He is that archetypal twentieth-century literary figure-the exile who writes about the land he has left behind.

I do not read Polish so I cannot enjoy Milosz in the original or comment on the accuracy of the translations presented, but all are lucid and elegant. This book is an excellent place to start for anyone interested in learning about modern Poland's greatest poet.
