Volume 17 Number 3 1989 May The author of the Booky stories and two earlier novels about Margaret has, with Margaret on Her Way, completed the story of this lively, likeable young heroine. Fifteen-year-old Margaret Rose Emerson lives in southern Ontario during the 1920s and early 1930s. She lives on a farm with her aunt and uncle, but during the week boards in a nearby town in order to attend continuation school. In this third volume of the trilogy, all of the interesUng characters from the first two novels are back, complete with amusing foibles and great fondness for Margaret: Aunt Mary and Uncle Herb, Dora Hare and her husband "Rabbit," and Margaret's beloved Clydesdale, Starr. Although the story takes place at a time when life was simpler and the problems of youth less complex, today's young readers will be able to identify with Margaret's emotions and activities. She serves as a bridesmaid for the first time, acquires a boyfriend, learns to drive, and continues working toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian.
