Don't give away (live) Alligator Pie!

The audiocassette Alligator Pie is a collection of poetry from Alligator Pie*, Garbage Delight**, and Nicholas Knock and Other People (Macmillan, 1974). Children and adults still find the nonsense verses, chants and rhythms as silly, funny, scary and wonderful as ever. Lee delights all ages with fantasy and reality. Now parents who were treated to Lee's verses as children can give new meaning to family bedtime reading.

The poems can be used for listening, for enjoyment and appreciation, as group reading or rote chants. The poetry could also serve as a source for whole language lessons, drama, creative writing, art or rhythmic activities.

Lee's themes—food, relationships with friends and authority figures, animals, settings and creatures, all with Canadian motifs-are still contemporary. They still evoke a wide range of emotions and feelings, from calm sighs to snorts and belly laughs.

I have one slight criticism of the packaging. The table of contents is printed on the large, outer paper box that holds the plastic cassette box. Because of its size, the outer box would probably be thrown away. Therefore, the table of contents would have been better printed and put inside the case for easy reference.
