This is the third Charlie Salter novel I have reviewed and they keep getting better. It isn't that the crimes become more ingenious but that Wright's characters have become increasingly more human. It is sometimes difficult to sec the tough inspector in the lovable Charlie Salter, who has all the human softness of ourselves. The people in each story don't wear white or black and they carry all the human baggage we all possess. Although each novel is a crime story. It is also a story of Charlie Salter's world, with which the reader can readily identify.

A Question of Murder takes place in Toronto's classy Yorkville area at the time of the Princess's visit. A car bombing, high police security, drug dealers, street vendors, undercover cops and underworld characters make for a good whodunit. Sailor's ageing father and son contribute to an interesting subplot, as docs the art forger we meet at his cottage country studio.

Wright writes intriguing and enjoyable crime stories. They're not deep, but are written for entertainment. Wright succeeds in providing quality escape for young adults and mature readers. There is nothing needed for shock value, either through language or description--a welcome relief today.
