Anna, Paul and Tommycat Say Hello and Looking for Tommycat are the first two books in the "Anna, Paul and Tommycat" series. These easy-to-read picture-books, with their large print and simple language, are ideal for the very young as well as beginning readers. The illustrations by Michael Bisson are bright and cheerful.

Originally written in French by Nicole Girard and Pol Danheux, they have been adapted by Priscllla Galloway. Galloway is the author of When You Were Little and I Was Big* and Good Times, Bad Times, Mummy and Me (Women's Press, 1980).

In Anna, Paul and Tommycat Say Hello, originally published as Mimi, Paul et Chabichou se presentment (Mondia, 1977), we are introduced to the brother and sister team along with their pet cat. We meet Anna, whose "glasses sit on the tip of [her] nose..." and Paul, with his "frizzy red hair and a face full of freckles." Tommycat, their purple pet," can slither under a door even when it's closed."

Looking for Tommycat, the second story in the series, was first published in French under the title: A la recherche de Chabichou (Mondia, 1977). Here, we discover that Tommycat has vanished, so sister and brother set off to find him. After having no luck at the comer store, barber shop, laundromat, bookstore and drugstore, they finally track him down behind the dessert counter in the supermarket, only to have him disappear once again—no doubt to lead the children to further adventures.
