Professing to tell children all they ever wanted to know about pets, this book does give a lot of information. It discusses why people have pets, tells of unusual pets and owners, pampered and working pets, amazing pet stories, and pet talk and questions. It is sort of a mini Desmond Morris.

Greey de Pencier publishes OWL magazine; OWL is a trademark of the Young Naturalist Foundation. Pets is printed in a magazine-style format with three small columns per page liberally sprinkled with cartoonlike drawings. There are many short paragraphs, and the first two or three words of each paragraph are in bold letters to act as headings.

Recent research claims that modern readers like short choppy chunks of information with lots of Illustrations. The cartoony, rather rude illustrations do not appeal to me, but I am sure they will appeal to a lot of people, and the content is interesting.
