This book, from a series about western Canada, is in fact a walking tour of Fort Steele Historic Park in British Columbia. Each building on the site is given a page or two of description. The writer also has included stories and other trivia to round out the book.

A guide to this site in the East Kootenays, this book retains some of the flavour of the place for readers who have not been there. Fort Steele is written in an uncomplicated style and the extensive inclusion of photographs carries a reader's interest. A bibliography is also included.

Despite its narrow scope and unique structure this book would be of interest to most libraries. Material about various historic sites in Canada is rare and this book would fill a small need.
