These humorous poems are a delight. Nine of these poems appeared in earlier versions in Nicholas Knock and Other People (Macmillan of Canada, 1974). The words romp along, creating pictures of all kinds of ridiculous situations.

This is not a book for children, although many children would enjoy some of the poems. A few themes may offend. People who recognize the satire, parody and allusions will take great pleasure in this collection. These are poems to enjoy, to read slowly and to think about.

The pen-and-ink drawings by Alan Daniel match the mood of the poems and embellish many pages of the book.

When I was young,
I did a thing
With liquid soap
And a bubble ring:

I swished it deep
And then I blew
And iridescent
Bubbles grew

Enjoy!
