Degrassi St. strikes again! Two more books with three stories a piece. These easy-to-read, interesting stories are great for grades 4 to 6. The characters are believable and the reader cares enough about these kids to keep on reading. Their adventures and peccadilloes are ordinary and convincing. In "Martin Meets the Pirates," Martin is tempted by an invitation to join a gang but comes to his senses in time and fights for justice and fair play. "Ryan Runs for Help" is the old "boy who cried wolf” story in modern clothing. "Connie Goes to Court" is about the sins of omission; sometimes one has to make oneself clearly heard.

In "Karen Keeps Her Word" a class votes to be nuclear-free; this decision becomes an issue when a missile systems company donates to their yearbook committee, and Karen then realizes, "It's not what people say, it's what people do that counts." In "Samantha Gets a Visitor," Samantha and a cousin she hasn't seen for a while start out as enemies. But their getting lost in the woods one dark and scary night turns things around. In "Martin Hears the Music", Martin almost doesn't hear anything because he refuses to wear a hearing aid.

Based on episodes from the award-winning television series, these tales translate well into print. Children will relate pleasurably to the characters, relationships, problems and solutions.
