The unintentional puns and grammatical errors make the usual notes about sickness even more interesting, but there are notes for reasons other than sickness. For example, there is one informing the teacher that a child is going to bring in a piranha. One asks the teacher to give the child enough work to cover a two-month holiday and asks that it be sent right then. Every note is complemented by one of Tom Nesbitt's wonderful, witty illustrations. The drawings stand alone for cartoon-book lovers. This book will be enjoyed by all. Dedicated to teachers, it gives us insight into the variety and humour involved in the profession.
