In February 1985 the parents' committee (Western region) of the Montreal Catholic School Commission organized a seminar to find ways in helping parents and schools ensure Ihe academic success of their children. The target was inner-city schools. This brochure is a result of a number of suggestions submitted by the parent members of the school committees.

The comic strip format is printed with blue ink on white paper. Each cartoon is hand drawn and depicts a practicial means for encouraging the child to do well in school. For example, on the fourth page the suggestion is made to display the child's school work in the home. The accompanying cartoon shows the child's school work being taped to a few of the walls in the home.

The drawings and layout appear crude and juvenile. However, the suggestions made in the brochure to help the child succeed are very practical and profound.

Anyone in the academic field would benefit by taking the two minutes to read the dozen pages. It should serve as a model for other parents' committees throughout Canada that want to reach parents quickly and effectively on the issue of children's success in school.
