This book is number four in the Degrassi St. Series. Drawn again from the popular TV series, it will be welcomed by fans who have undoubtedly been waiting for its appearance.

As in previous books, the problems addressed are thought provoking and universal for this age group. In "Casey Draws the Line," a tight between best friends has a tragic outcome for the pet they are fighting over. Luck, exemplified by a chain letter, a ouija board and a lucky coin, features in "Billy Breaks the Chain." "Benjamin Walks the Dog" deals with the elaborate preparations of two boys anxious to try smoking, who learn about responsibility when the dog they are supposed to be looking after, and a little brother, disappear. The dilemmas are real, as are the solutions arrived at by the children.

The format of the books is appealing, with a picture from one of the films on the cover. Each of the stories is divided into several short chapters. The print is large and well spaced, interspersed with line drawings. In spite of this I disagree with the publisher's designation of suitability for ages seven to ten, as the vocabulary would be challenging for most Grade 2 students.

The availability of films to accompany the stories increases the opportunity for using these as a teaching and discussion tool. Recommended.
