Readers are most likely to have come across Morrow's work in The Yukon (Whitecap, 1979), or in Equinox. Morrow's formal training in photography and journalism shows in the clarity and artistry of his pictures, and in the concise, yet interesting narrative. If geographers argue about the boundaries of the continents, it is understandable that climbers would quibble about the names of the seven highest peaks. If we accept Morrow's definition, then he is the first man to have scaled the highest peak on each continent. His achievement, including the well-publicized ascent of Everest sponsored by Air Canada, deserves a place in Canadian history. The back of the book contains an index and a two-page summary of the seven trips, with time of ascent, height of mountain, level of difficulty, etc. Each section begins with a sketch map of the route to the peak. The organization of the climb, the environs of the mountain, and the local people are described. This adds a lot of interest for readers who may not be mountaineers themselves. The book is not technical; the novice would appreciate a map giving the general location of each mountain, however. These accounts can easily be read in order of choice, as each is largely self contained. For some readers, the prime interest may be the rare and beautiful photographs. Antarctica, Everest.
