This is a package of worksheets to be used in conjunction with Champion's Encyclopedia and The Canadian Encyclopedia. The first two pages are the title page and an introduction.

The remaining fifty-eight pages discuss or direct the student to learn about North American wildlife in the Arctic, forest, mountains, and prairies. Most of the questions are general enough in nature that other encyclopedias or reference books could be used. However there are specific questions directing the students to the two encyclopedias of the title, so that copies of the most recent would be beneficial.

The animals to be researched, in order of listing, are: the polar bear, the walrus, the black bear, the grouse, the grizzly bear, the bison, the ptarmigan, the musk-ox, the beaver, the skunk, the mountain goat, the caribou, the timber wolf, the white-tailed deer, the squirrel, and the golden eagle. In addition, there are worksheets that direct the student to learn about the topography and climate of the four major regions where these animals are found. Some statements regarding ecology are also discussed.

I did not find anything particularly innovative or new about these worksheets and the questions tend to be more general than specific about the animals to be researched. There are, however, several open-ended ideas that would allow more industrious students the opportunity to expand their reports. The sheets may be reproduced by the purchasing school and are at least a good starting point for Canadian animal studies.
